Members Named to BLM Northwest California Resource Advisory Council

The U. S. Bureau of Land Management’s Northwest California Resource Advisory Council will welcome back four members who have been reappointed to three-year terms by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar.

Eric Lueder, of San Rafael, will continue representing off highway vehicle interests; Ryan Henson, of Anderson, will represent national and regional environmental groups; and Tony Shaw, of Ukiah, will continue to represent the public at large.  Kendall Smith, of Fort Bragg, will continue representing local elected officials.  She is a member of the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors.

The council’s next meeting is Feb. 8-10 in Redding.  Details will be announced.

The 12-member citizen advisory panel works closely with managers of the agency’s Arcata, Redding and Ukiah field offices, advising on a wide variety of natural resource and management issues affecting the public lands.  Members represent diverse interest areas including timber management, recreation, environmental concerns, state and local government, Native American tribes and the public at large.

Vacancies occur every year, and anyone interested in managing public lands and natural resources is encouraged to apply.  Nomination opportunities will be announced this spring.  This year, the RAC will have four openings on seats representing commercial timber, environmental groups, recreation and the public at large.
