BLM National Director to Honor City of Galt, Local Schools at Winter Bird Festival

WHO:   Bob Abbey, Director, U.S. Bureau of Land Management

WHAT: Director Abbey will join BLM California State Director Jim Kenna at the Galt Winter Bird Festival from 2-3 p.m. Media availability included.

WHERE:  McCaffrey Middle School, 997 Park Terrace Drive, Galt.

WHEN:  January 28, 2012; 2 – 3 p.m.

BACKGROUND: Director Abbey will attend the Galt Winter Bird Festival at the school from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and tour the Cosumnes River Preserve. At 2:30 p.m. he will present awards to the City of Galt, Galt Joint Union Elementary School District and Galt Joint Union High School District in recognition of their efforts to involve youth and the public in the outdoors. Media availability will follow the awards presentation.
President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors Initiative supports locally-driven efforts to preserve and protect places that hold special historical and cultural meaning to communities across the country.
