Little South Fork Elk River Trail Closed During Improvement Project |
|||||||||||
|
The Little South Fork Elk River Trail in the Headwaters Forest Reserve will be closed from Aug. 3 through Aug. 24, while a restoration project is underway. The closed area is about three miles from the Elk River Trailhead parking area. The Bureau of Land Management said the closure is needed for public safety. The first three miles of the Elk River Trail will remain open during the project. It is accessible for those with limited mobility and open to bicycles and dogs under owner control. Interpretive signs provide information about the unique cultural and natural history of the reserve. The work is part of a series of projects designed to improve trail conditions and reduce sediment delivery in the Elk River. For more information call the BLM Arcata Field Office at (707) 825-2300. Information on natural resources and access to the Headwaters Forest Reserve is available by visiting www.blm.gov/ca/arcata and clicking on the Headwaters Forest Reserve link. |
