South Cow Mountain OHV Area to be Temporarily Closed for Public Safety

The Bureau of Land Management will close the South Cow Mountain Off-Highway Vehicle Area to general recreation use and through traffic from Friday, April 20, through Sunday,
April 22, for public safety during two motorcycle races.

The North Bay Motorcycle Club has been granted an exclusive-use permit to use the trails throughout the OHV area for the 2012 Crosscut Family Enduro and Sawmill Enduro events.  As many as 200 riders per event are expected.

The events originally were scheduled for the weekend of March 31, but were postponed due to rain.

"We are taking these precautions to be as certain as we can that no one accidentally gets onto the race course," said BLM Ukiah Field Office Manager Rich Burns.  "We are restricting access for the safety of both the participants and the public."  The area will be reopened to the public on Sunday afternoon as soon as the last participant is off the course.

Information about the enduro events is available from the North Bay Motorcycle Club:  www.northbaymc.org/
