BLM Plans Pile Burning in Yankee Hill Area |
||||||
|
Bureau of Land Management and Cal Fire crews plan to start burning brush piles on 60 acres in the Yankee Hill area in Tuolumne County this week. “The burning will continue through the spring as weather conditions allow,” said Brian Mulhollen, battalion chief in the BLM’s Mother Lode Field Office. The piles were created last year and this spring in the Blewetts Point area by the Highway 108 Fire Safe Council as part of a fuels reduction project. Residents of the Columbia area may see smoke and are asked to drive with extra caution since there will be fuels crews working along Yankee Hill Road. For more information, call Mulhollen at (916) 941-3118. |
