The history of the Headwaters Forest Reserve will be told through stories and music in a free living history presentation, Saturday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m., at the Headwaters Education Center near the Elk River Trailhead. Julie Clark, the Bureau of Land Management’s Headwaters park ranger, will join story teller Seabury Gould and actors Carol Lambrecht and Jennifer Ortega to present the Headwaters story. They will begin with early logging and life in the town of Falk, and end in the present day. The Headwaters Education Center is a half-mile walk from the Elk River Trailhead parking area along the Elk River Trail. The trail is paved and accessible for those with walking difficulties. Parking at the trailhead is limited. The BLM advises participants to carpool and to arrive early. To reach the Elk River Trailhead, take the Elk River Road exit off Highway 101 at the south end of Eureka. Turn right onto Elk River Road and drive approximately six miles to the Reserve parking area.
