BLM Seeking Public Comments on OHV Grant Application; Public Meeting Feb. 22

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Eagle Lake Field Office is seeking public comments on its proposed grant application to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division to help manage off highway vehicle recreation opportunities on public lands.

“We want to hear suggestions about off highway vehicle recreation needs across the Eagle Lake Field Office area, including the Fort Sage Off Highway Vehicle Area,” said Marisa Williams, a BLM outdoor recreation planner.  “We will use the comments to prepare a preliminary grant application for submission in early March.”

Members of the public can comment in writing or provide comments at a public meeting Tuesday, February 22, at 5 p.m., at the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, 2950 Riverside Dr. in Susanville.  The BLM must receive written and email comments by Feb. 22.

Comments  should be mailed to the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, 2950 Riverside Dr., Susanville, CA 96130, attention:  Marisa Williams, or sent by email to Marisa_Williams@blm.gov.

The Eagle Lake Field office is planning to request funding that would support OHV law enforcement and restoration planning within wilderness study areas. The BLM will also request funds to support operations, development and land acquisition at the Fort Sage Off Highway Vehicle Area near Doyle.

BLM will later announce an opportunity for the public to comment on the preliminary grant request.

The BLM’s California field offices annually request OHVMR funds to help manage OHV use and provide riding opportunities on BLM-managed public lands throughout the state.

For more information, contact BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Marisa Williams at the BLM Eagle Lake Field Office, (530) 252-5303.
