BLM Offers Firewood Permits at Lacks Creek |
||||||
|
The Bureau of Land Management is again offering firewood permits at a specially-designated wood cutting area in the Lacks Creek area northeast of Arcata. Permits, which can be purchased at the Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Rd., allow wood cutters to remove hardwoods that are already down. Cutting live or standing dead trees will not be permitted. The permits cost $10 per cord, with a two-cord minimum and a 10-cord maximum. The BLM will provide maps of the areas where wood cutting is allowed, and provide information on cutting regulations. Wood cutters’ chainsaws must be equipped with spark arresters in good operating condition and they must carry fully charged fire extinguishers. For more information, contact the BLM Arcata Field Office at (707) 825-2300. |
