BLM Desert Advisory Council to Meet in El Centro

The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Desert Advisory Council (DAC) will meet in formal session on Saturday, March 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Cal Works Bldg, 2895 S. 4th St., El Centro CA 92243. A field trip to the sites of Solar Two, the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, and Ormat 45 geothermal plant is scheduled for Friday, March 26.  The tour will leave from the Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites, 503 E. Danenberg Dr., El Centro CA 92243 at 8 a.m.  Members of the public should be prepared to provide their own transportation (4WD may be required in portions of the Imperial Sand Dunes), as well as to buy or bring their own lunches.

Agenda topics on Saturday will include updates by council members and reports from the BLM district manager and five field office managers.  Additional agenda topics may include updates on legislation, renewable energy – including geothermal, and the wild horse and burro program.  Final agenda items will be posted on the BLM California state website at

All Desert Advisory Council meetings are open to the public. Public comment for items not on the agenda will be scheduled at the beginning of the meeting Saturday morning. Time for public comment may be made available by the council chairman during the presentation of various agenda items, and is scheduled at the end of the meeting for topics not on the agenda.

While the meeting is tentatively scheduled to conclude at 4:30 p.m., it could conclude earlier should the council conclude its presentations and discussions. Therefore, members of the public interested in a particular agenda item or discussion should schedule their arrival accordingly.

Written comments also are accepted at the time of the meeting and, if copies are provided to the recorder, will be incorporated into the minutes.
