BLM Will Dedicate New Connection between Rail Trail and River Trail

The final link in a recreation trail loop around Keswick Reservoir will be dedicated for public use in a ribbon cutting celebration hosted by the Bureau of Land Management and its partners on Saturday, June, 5, at 10 a.m. near Keswick Dam.
 
The celebration, which includes refreshments, awards and a bike ride, will be held  at a trailhead site on Keswick Dam Blvd about two miles west of the intersection with Lake Blvd.  The site will be marked with signs.
 
“We hope local trail enthusiasts will join us to celebrate this accomplishment,” said Steve Anderson, manager of the BLM Redding Field Office.  “With this new connection, bicyclists, hikers and runners can enjoy 38 miles of trails looping around Keswick Reservoir.”
 
The new trail on the east side of Keswick Reservoir links the BLM Sacramento River Rail Trail (which is a national recreation trail), with recreational routes leading to Shasta Dam, the Sundial Bridge and Keswick Reservoir trails.  The link is part of a network of recreational trails developed by the BLM, the McConnell Foundation, the Redding Foundation, the City of Redding, the Bureau of Reclamation and Shasta County.
 
Celebration organizers said parking is limited, and recommended car pools for those planning to attend.
