Storms Leave Excellent Cross Country Skiing Conditions on Bizz Johnson Trail |

Recent winter storms in northern California have left excellent cross country skiing and snowshoeing conditions on the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail between Susanville and Westwood. “There is great coverage even on the lower elevations closest to Susanville,” said Stan Bales of the Bureau of Land Management’s Eagle Lake Field Office in Susanville. “We encourage everyone to get out there while the lower elevation snow hangs on.” Bales said good trail conditions can be conserved if users follow these winter tips:
The eastern six miles of trail from Susanville to the Devil’s Corral trailhead is closed to vehicles, including snowmobiles. The areas on the Lassen National Forest west of Goumaz are open to snowmobiles. |
