The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Arcata Field Office invites public comments on its preliminary grant application to the state of California’s Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Grants and Cooperative Agreements program. The field office is requesting approximately $54,000 for law enforcement, trail maintenance and facilities operations, and maintenance of off-highway vehicle (OHV) related areas at the Samoa Dunes Recreation Area. Funds would be used in fiscal year 2011. The preliminary grant application, along with those from other BLM field offices, can also be reviewed online at the OHMVR Division website, www.ohv.parks.ca.gov, beginning March 2. Detailed information is also available by contacting BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Bruce Cann at (707) 825-2322, or by email at bcann@ca.blm.gov. Funding for this grant program is generated from the registration of OHV’s and the percentage of fuel taxes attributed to OHV use. |
