BLM Invites Public Comments on Ridgecrest OHV Draft Grant Application

The Bureau of Land Management’s Ridgecrest Field Office invites public comments on its draft grant application to the state of California’s Off Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division.

The field office is requesting approximately $1,000,000 to be used for ground operations, trail maintenance, law enforcement, and restoration projects.  Funds would be used in fiscal year 2011, which begins Oct. 1, 2010.

BLM staff will discuss the proposed grant request during the following public meetings: on Thursday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ridgecrest Steering Committee meeting at the BLM Ridgecrest Field Office and on Wednesday, March 17, at 9:00 a.m. at the Friends of Jawbone meeting at the Jawbone Station, 28111 Jawbone Canyon Road, Cantil, Calif.

Comments can be submitted either by e-mail or in writing and should be sent to both the OHMVR Division ( and the Bureau of Land Management, 300 Richmond Rd., Ridgecrest CA, 93555, Attention: OHV grants.  Comments must be received by Monday, April 5 to be included with the grant request to the OHMVR Division.

The BLM’s California field offices annually request OHVMR funds to help operate OHV areas and provide riding opportunities on BLM-managed public lands throughout the state.
