|||||||||||
|
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has closed a portion of the Excelsior Mine/Smith Talc Road as a result of a wash-out in a remote portion of northeastern San Bernardino County. Recent rains resulted in nearly 100 feet of pavement vanishing from a road through public lands near Tecopa Pass and Horse Thief Springs, which are about a mile south of Inyo County and 20 miles west of the State of Nevada. Closure of the road, used mainly by used by ranchers, miners, and bird watchers, is mandated by Code of Federal Regulations 8364.1 in order to protect persons, property, public lands, and resources. The closure will remain in effect until repairs are complete, which is expected by March 1, 2011. Please call BLM’s Needles Field Office for further information at (760) 326-7000. |
