Local Group to Dedicate Monument at Piety Hill |

Local groups with join with the Bureau of Land Management to dedicate a monument marking the historic townsite of Piety Hill in the Igo area during a public ceremony Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at the BLM Cloverdale Trailhead. Members of the Ono Grange and the Trinitarianus Chapter of the Ancient and Honorable Order of E. Clampus Vitus will conduct the dedication ceremony marking the historic Western Shasta County mining settlement. The monument is located on public land managed by the BLM's Redding Field Office, which worked with local groups on historic research and monument placement. The site is on Cloverdale Road between Placer Street and Clear Creek Road. To get there, take Highway 273 four miles south from Redding to Clear Creek Road. Turn right and travel eight miles (west) to Cloverdale Road. Turn right and drive about a half-mile to the trailhead.
