Invasive Weeds Topic for Free King Range Outing

Outdoor enthusiasts can learn about the impacts of non-native plants on California's Lost Coast and then spend some time tackling the problem, in a free presentation and hike offered by the Bureau of Land Management, Saturday, May 8, at the King Range Office, 768 Shelter Cove Road, Whitethorn.

The event gets underway at 10 a.m. with a presentation by Jennifer Wheeler, a botanist with the BLM's Arcata Field Office.  Participants will then take a hike to learn how to recognize various invasive plants and help on an eradication project.  The outing will return to the King Range Office by 1 p.m.

Participants should bring a lunch and water, wear study hiking boots and be prepared for coastal weather conditions.

For more information, call the BLM King Range Office, (707) 986-5411.
