BLM Oil and Gas Lease Auction Tops $200,000

Five oil and gas lease parcels in Kern County were auctioned for more than $227,000 by the Bureau of Land Management’s Bakersfield Field Office on Wednesday.

Vintage Production California LLC was the per-acre high bidder at $320 per acre for a 160-acre lease in Kern County. Vintage, based in Bakersfield, was the highest bidder per parcel at a total of $83,880.

BLM is currently planning the next lease sales tentatively scheduled for Dec. 9, 2009, March 10, 2010 and June 9, 2010.  BLM is seeking public input from industry or individuals on parcels of interest in California for oil and gas lease sales during 2010. These expressions of interest (EOI) can be provided in a letter or form listing the legal descriptions of lands an individual or company is interested in seeing offered for lease. The last day to submit an EOI to be considered for the June sale is Oct. 15, 2009. The EOI should be sent to BLM-California State Office, Attention: Laurie Moore, 2800 Cottage Way, W-1618, Sacramento, CA, 95825.
