BLM Invites Public Comments on Arcata Field Office OHV Grant Application
The Bureau of Land Management’s Arcata Field Office invites public comments on its preliminary grant application to the state of California's Off Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division.
The field office is requesting approximately $59,000 for trail maintenance, law enforcement, and facilities operations and maintenance of off-highway vehicle (OHV) related activities at Samoa Dunes Recreation Area. Another $36,000 is requested for restoration work within the Yuki Wilderness Area, southeast of Covelo. Funds would be used in fiscal years 2009 and 2010.
A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 24, at 6p.m., at the Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Road, Arcata. Participants will be asked to share ideas and concerns and recommend specific projects and funding levels that could be included in the grant request.
Written comments should be sent to Bureau of Land Management, 1695 Heindon Rd., Arcata, CA 95521, Attention: OHV grants. Comments must be submitted no later than Monday, April 6.
