BLM Northwest California Resource Advisory Council to Meet in Arcata

Members of the Bureau of Land Management’s Northwest California Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will hear reports on public lands projects to be completed with American Resource and Recovery Act (ARRA) funds, when they meet Thursday and Friday, July 30 and 31, at the BLM Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Rd., Arcata.  The meeting is open to the public.

On Thursday, council members will convene at 10 a.m. and depart for a field tour to the Elk River Trail in the Headwaters Forest Reserve near Eureka. Members of the public are welcome. They must provide their own transportation and lunch.
 
On Friday, the meeting begins at 8 a.m. in the conference room of the BLM Arcata Field Office.  Agenda items include reports from BLM Northern California District Manager Nancy Haug, updates from the BLM California State Office, a discussion about outreach needs for public lands attractions, and a report on planned ARRA-funded (also known as stimulus) projects. 
 
Council members will also receive status reports from Arcata Field Manager Lynda Roush, Redding Field Manager Steve Anderson and Ukiah Field Manager Rich Burns.
 
Time for public comments has been reserved for 11 a.m.
 
The RAC, one of 24 such councils in the western United States, works closely with the BLM’s Northwest California field offices to advise on the wide range of the agency’s public lands responsibilities. Members represent broad interests including recreation, timber, environmental organizations, Native American tribes, local government, rights of way and the public at large.
