BLM Plans Pile Burning Operations
The BLM 's Bishop Field Office is conducting prescribed fire operations (pile burning) in the Little Antelope Valley area, northwest of Walker, as weather conditions permit throughout the remaining winter months. Smoke and flames will be visible at times from Highway 395, as well as from the communities of Walker and Coleville.
The pile burning completes the fuels reduction work begun in 2006 to reduce future wildland fire intensity and increase safety for nearby residents and firefighters. The fuels reduction work also enhances important mule deer habitat.
For more information, contact Dale Johnson, vegetation management planner, at (760) 872-5055.
