Volunteers Needed to Restore Newly Acquired Public Land at Beauty Mountain |
|||||||||||
|
Volunteers are needed on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, to assist BLM staff in removing old plastic tubing and other irrigation supplies left behind on a parcel of private land recently acquired by BLM just south of Beauty Mountain Wilderness in San Diego County. The parcel, located on the southside of Twin Lakes off Cooper Cienega Truck Trail, was once a fruit-tree plantation. Removing the irrigation supplies and performing a general cleanup of the area will help restore the 25-acre parcel to a more natural setting. Gloves and tools such as hand saws will be provided, but quantities are limited -- so volunteers are encouraged to bring their own supplies. These should include personal safety supplies such as water, sunscreen, hats, gloves, closed-toed shoes, backpacks, snacks, etc. Volunteers should meet at one of the following locations to carpool to the project site: If you need additional directions, please contact the station at (951) 767-9144. Interested parties should RSVP to Jennifer Taylor, BLM Volunteer Coordinator, (760) 833-7117, or j5taylor@blm.gov. |
