Chalfant Public Land Stewardship Public Meeting Planned

The Chalfant Public Land Stewardship (CPLS) and the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Bishop Field Office will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, regarding management of the public lands surrounding the community of Chalfant. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and take place at the Chalfant Community Center.

The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss changes in access to public land on the west side of Chalfant Valley that have been proposed by CPLS.

In March 2009, the BLM Central California Resource Advisory Council met in Lone Pine and expressed its support for the BLM to build on the grass roots effort of local leaders to build a community-based stewardship strategy to maintain the character of the Chalfant Valley.
