BLM Wood Cutting Areas Opening Across North State
Firewood cutting areas will open on public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management in five northern California counties on Saturday, April 11.
Cutting areas have been designated in Shasta and Trinity counties. BLM allows woodcutting in other public land areas on a case by case basis. Information is available by speaking with a forester at the BLM Redding Field Office, (530) 224-2100.
Permits and wood cutting maps are available at the BLM Redding Field Office, 355 Hemsted Dr. Permits cost $15 per cord for softwood and Manzanita, and $25 per cord for hardwood.
Firewood cutters will be required to cut within designated areas and to follow permit stipulations.
