BLM Asks for Oil Industry Expressions of Interest
The Bureau of Land Management is inviting members of oil and gas industry to submit “expressions of interest” for federal land parcels in California that have potential for development. An expression of interest is a letter or a form listing the legal description of lands an individual or company is interested in seeing offered for lease.
Expressions of interest must be received by March 7, 2008, to be considered for inclusion in the Sept. 10, 2008, oil and gas lease sale. They should be sent to the BLM-California State Office, Attention: Laurie Moore, 2800 Cottage Way, Suite W-1618, Sacramento, Calif. 95825.
The BLM is planning for upcoming competitive oil and gas lease auctions and is required by law to periodically lease federal land for oil and gas exploration and development. One way BLM learns of parcels that may be offered for lease is directly from the oil and gas industry through the expressions of interest.
The next BLM oil & gas lease sale is planned for March 12, 2008, in Bakersfield. For information about that sale please see our website at http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/prog/energy/og/instructions/leasesale/2008_Lease_Sales.html
Further information on oil and gas leasing procedures in California can be obtained from Moore at the BLM State Office, (916) 978-4377.
