Environmental Assessment to Re-power Wind Energy Farm Available for Public Review

An environmental assessment (EA) analyzing the decommissioning of existing wind turbines, installing of new wind turbines and amending a right-of-way (ROW) at the Edom Hills Wind Farm in southern California has been released by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for public review and comment.
 
The BLM's Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office would consider granting the amended ROW grant, originally issued in 1983, and extend the term to 2037. This action would allow BP Wind Energy North America Inc. to remove 139 old and inefficient wind turbines collectively generating a maximum of 10.9 megawatts (MW) and replace them with eight new, state-of-the-art turbines that will generate 20 MW.
