News ReleaseFor Release: Oct. 30, 2007 BLM Announces Carrizo Plain TourThe Bureau of Land Management and the managing partners of the Carrizo Plain National Monument are inviting the public to a day-long tour of the monument. BLM, The Nature Conservancy and the California Department of Fish and Game, in conjunction with the Monument Advisory Committee, will hold the tour of the Carrizo on Saturday, November 3. “We are looking at a number of resource issues in developing a new Resource Management Plan for the monument. This tour will provide a hands-on opportunity to see some of the areas of interest,” said Johna Hurl, monument manager. The tour will leave from the California Valley Community Services District building on Soda Lake Road, located about one mile south of Highway 58 next to the Cal Fire Station 42, at 9 a.m. and conclude about 3:30 p.m. Participants will need water, lunch, hiking shoes and transportation. A carpool will be formed at the start of the tour. The tour will include stops along the east side of the monument that were not included in a tour in August. For planning purposes, please contact Ryan Cooper at (661) 391-6048, ryan_cooper@ca.blm.gov, if you plan to attend or for more information. -BLM-
