BLM Asks for Oil Industry Expressions of Interest
The oil and gas industry is invited to submit an “expression of interest” for federal land parcels in California that have potential for development. An expression of interest is a letter or a form listing the legal description of lands an individual or company is interested in seeing offered for lease.
The BLM is planning for upcoming competitive oil and gas lease sales and is required by law to periodically lease federal land for oil and gas exploration and development. One way BLM learns of parcels that may be offered for lease is directly from the oil and gas industry through the expression of interest.
Expressions of interest must be received by December 10, 2007 to be considered for inclusion in the June 2008 oil & gas lease sale. They should be sent to the BLM-California State Office, Attention: Laurie Moore, 2800 Cottage Way, Suite W-1618, Sacramento, CA. 95825.
The next BLM oil & gas lease sale is planned for March 12, 2008 in Bakersfield.
Further information on oil and gas leasing procedures in California can be obtained from Laurie Moore at the BLM State Office, (916) 978-4377.
