Alabama Hills Stewardship Public Meeting Set
The community of Lone Pine and the Bureau of Land Management’s Bishop Field Office will hold a public meeting on March 20 concerning management of the Alabama Hills. The meeting will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the auditorium of the Lone Pine Film Museum.
The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the evolving community stewardship strategy for the Alabama hills, said Jim Jennings, BLM outdoor recreation planner.
Last November, the BLM Central California Resource Advisory Council met in Lone Pine and expressed its support for the BLM to build upon the grass roots effort of local leaders to frame a community strategy to maintain the character of the Alabama Hills. An initial meeting was held Feb. 27. The March 20 meeting will be one of a series of meetings to develop and implement the strategy.
