BLM Seeks Central California Resource Advisory Council Nominations

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking nominations to fill four positions for three-year terms on the 12-person Central California Resource Advisory Council, a citizen's panel which advises the BLM on the stewardship of federal public lands. To ensure a balance of viewpoints on the RAC, nominees must represent one of three major categories of interest:

Category One: There are two openings in membership category one, which includes federal livestock grazing permit holders and those representing timber, minerals, energy, transportation and rights-of-way interests, off-road vehicles, and commercial recreation.

Category Two: There is one opening in category two where members represent wild horse and burro interest groups, history and archaeology interests, environmental groups or dispersed recreation interests.

Category Three: There is one opening in membership category three, which includes the public-at-large, elected officials, the academic sector, tribal interests, and state agencies responsible for natural resource management.

Each nomination must include the name of the nominee, work and home addresses and telephone numbers, also biographical information including the nominee's work, applicable outside interests, and public service records. The nominations must also include letters of reference from represented interests, organizations, or elected officials. Nominees will be evaluated based on their education, training, and knowledge of the BLM, and the issues involving BLM-administered lands in the Central California region.

The BLM will accept public nominations at the Folsom Field Office, 63 Natoma St., Folsom, Calif. 95630 no later than April 2, 2007. Nomination forms are available on the web at http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/info/resource_advisory.html

The Central California RAC works with BLM managers in Folsom, Hollister, Bakersfield and Bishop, providing advice on the management of public lands in the Central California region.

For more information, please contact the Bureau of Land Management, Folsom Field Office, 63 Natoma St., Folsom Calif. 95630, or call (916) 985-4474.
