Alabama Hills Stewardship Meeting Planned
The community of Lone Pine and the Bureau of Land Management’s Bishop Field Office would like to invite those interested in the management of the Alabama Hills to a meeting to discuss a community stewardship strategy for the Alabama Hills. The meeting will be held on Feb. 27 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Lone Pine.
Last November, the BLM Central California Resource Advisory Council met in Lone Pine and expressed its support for the BLM to build upon the grass roots effort of local leaders to frame a community strategy to maintain the character of the Alabama Hills. This meeting will kick off this effort.
It will commence with a discussion of the currently evolving partnership between the community and BLM and highlight some of the accomplishments to date.
It is anticipated that there will be a series of future meetings to develop and implement the evolving stewardship strategy.
If you wish more information, please contact Jim Jennings of the BLM at (760) 872-5027.
