Cosumnes River Preserve Draft Plan Available for Review
The Cosumnes River Preserve Draft Management Plan is now available for public comment through January 9, 2008.
“When final, the Cosumnes River Preserve Management Plan will provide the implementing partners with direction and guidance for the operations and maintenance of the existing 46,000-acre Preserve over the course of the next 10 years,” said Harry McQuillen, manager for the Cosumnes River Preserve.
The primary issues addressed in the draft management plan include long term operations and management of the preserve, acquisitions and easement management, habitat restoration and enhancement, recreation, environmental education, cultural resources, and continued protection of preserve lands.
Copies of the draft plan are available for review at the preserve’s visitor’s center, 13501 Franklin Blvd., Galt; the U.S. Bureau of Land Management’s Folsom Field Office, 63 Natoma St., Folsom, Calif., 95630 and online at the Preserve’s website (www.cosumnes.org) or the BLM website http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/folsom.html

Public meetings regarding the draft management plan will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and again from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Meetings will be held December 18 at Laguna Town Hall Classroom One, 3020 Renwick Ave., Elk Grove and December 19 at the Greer Middle School Library, 248 West A St., Galt.
