Clean Up of Colfax Shooting Area
The Folsom Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management is looking for volunteers to help clean up trash at the Colfax shooting area off Carpenter Road near Interstate 80 on Saturday, January 20, 2007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. All persons wishing to help should dress for the weather, and bring work gloves.
The Colfax shooting area has been used for years by target shooters, mostly from the local region. A long-standing problem has been trash, including old appliances, brought to the site to be used as targets, then behind as an unsightly and possibly dangerous mess.
According to Field Manager Bill Haigh, trash dumping constitutes abuse of the public lands. He is considering several options on how best to deal with the problem.
