News Release For Release: December 22, 2005 BLM Fire Employee Gary Cardoza Receives National Award Gary Cardoza, the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) fire and aviation state equipment and operations specialist, has been presented with the agency's National Safety Award for his outstanding contribution to the BLM's fire management program over the past 18 years. The award was presented last week in Salt Lake City. "Gary has brought incredibly valuable experience in land and fire management on the national, state and local levels," said Mike Pool, BLM California state director. "We are grateful for his knowledge and expertise in creating and developing innovative programs and are excited that his contributions have been recognized on a national level." BLM-California State Fire Management Officer Ed Wehking noted that Cardoza was the only recipient of the National Safety Award this year. Cardoza's distinguished civil service career spans over 35 years. He retires from federal service in early January. -BLM- |
