BLM Delays Selection of Dumont Dunes Technical Review Team Members - Seeks Additional Representatives

The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Barstow Field Office will delay selection of members to serve on its Dumont Dunes Technical Review Team (TRT) while continuing to solicit nominations for qualified applicants to represent San Bernardino County and commercial filming interests.

The TRT will advise the Barstow Field Office on the collection, expenditure, and accountability of fees collected at Dumont Dunes, and development of future faculties and services. BLM hopes to announce the selection of TRT members Friday, January 20.

Applications must include a resume with responses to the following questions:

- what is your professional and recreation background and qualifications;
- why do you want to be a member of the Dumont Dunes Technical Review Team; and
- will you have any problem attending the meetings in Barstow or participating in the conference calls?
Applicants also must provide the necessary contact information including address, daytime phone number, fax number, and email address if available.

Applications are to be submitted to Mike Ahrens, Barstow Field Office OHV program coordinator, by email at Mike_Ahrens@ca.blm.gov, FAX (760) 252-6099, or by mail to the Bureau of Land Management, Attn: Mike Ahrens, 2601 Barstow Road, Barstow, CA 92311. Applications will be accepted through Friday, January 13, 2006.

The categories of interests TRT appointees will represent will include commercial filming, the California Desert District Advisory Council, California Department of Parks and Recreation, Off-highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation Commission, Nevada off-highway vehicle (OHV) public interests, California OHV public interests, OHV organizations, San Bernardino County representative, other motorized recreation interests, and the Friends of Dumont Dunes. Nine members, one from each category will be appointed.

The TRT will meet two to three times a year. The first meeting, pending final selection of members, is scheduled for late January. The meetings are held at the BLM field office in Barstow between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week and usually last about 4 hours. Two conference calls, and more if needed, also will be scheduled during the week between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and last approximately two hours.
