A sale of oil and gas leases on federal land will be held in Bakersfield on Wednesday, May 8, 2002. The Bureau of Land Management will accept competitive bids on 25 parcels in two counties totaling 19,827.02 acres. The parcels are in Kern and San Luis Obispo counties. The parcels will be awarded to the highest acceptable bidder. The minimum bid is $2.00 per acre, with leases issued for a primary term of 10 years. Parcels not receiving bids at the May 8th sale will be available the next day for two year leases at the minimum bid. Non-competitive offers may be filed before the sale, and will reserve a parcel if it receives no bid at the sale. The lease sale will be held at the Holiday Inn Select Convention Center Hotel at 801 Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield. The sale room will open at 8:00 a.m. for registration. All bidders must register and obtain a number prior to bidding. A detailed notice of the lease sale containing the parcel descriptions, acreage, lease terms and conditions, oral bidding procedures and requirements, and other sale information may be purchased for $5.00 from the Bakersfield Field Office or the BLM California State Office in Sacramento.
