Volunteers Pitch in at Point Arena, Stornetta Public Lands

A group about 30 volunteers and BLM staff pitched in to improve the Point Arena and Stornetta Public Lands in a volunteer hike and project day  organized by the California Wilderness Coalition Saturday, Nov. 3.

The event, supported by the Point Arena Gateway Committee and the Point Arena Lighthouse Keepers, took place on a picture-perfect day overlooking the California Coastal National Monument.

Cameras clicked away all day, as the coastal weather was clear and calm and the scenery breathtaking at the Stornetta Public Lands

Volunteers use trimming tools to cut away coastal pine saplings in a project aimed at improving coastal meadows

One team mixes cement while another ensures that a sign post is straight, as volunteers install a new information kiosk at an entry to the Stornetta Public Lands

A second volunteer team installs an interpretive sign about coastal resources and the Marine Life Protection Act on the Stornetta Public Lands near the Point Arena Lighthouse
