Monument Advisory Committee discusses issues

Members of the public and the Carrizo plain National Monument Advisory Committee discussed travel management and other issues facing the monument, at a Dec. 1 meeting.

As part of implementing the monument’s resource management plan, BLM is preparing a travel management plan. Following a scoping meeting held as part of an advisory committee earlier this year, BLM identified some preliminary issues to address.

– Do existing travel and transportation system meet current and future needs?
– What is the range of impacts to sensitive resources caused by the existing system?
– What types of conflicts are occurring?

BLM will discuss the draft plan with the MAC and hold a public meeting when the draft plan is ready next year.
