Off Roaders Love Chappie Shasta Area for FilmingThe Chappie-Shasta Off Highway Vehicle Area near Redding continues to be a popular place for vehicle manufacturers to show off their products in commercials. Most recently, Toyota and Cam Am were on site on the same day, film crews in tow, getting footage for upcoming TV spots.
Commercial filming is allowed on BLM-managed lands under a film permitting process coordinated by field offices. The Chappie-Shasta OHV area, managed by the BLM Redding Field Office, offers 200 miles of roads and trails for off-road enthusiasts, and spectacular views of Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, and Mount Shasta. Camping is available near the staging area below Shasta Dam. - Photos by Eric Coulter, Redding Field Office - Jeff Fontana, Public Affairs Officer, BLM Northern California District (December, 2012) BLM California News.bytes, issue 559 -- To subscribe to News.bytes, send an e-mail to: mailto:Join-Newsbytes@List.ca.blm.gov OR visit our News.bytes subscription page. |
