Fort Ord National Monument Partners with Point Lobos Adventures camp
The two-week day camp offered by California State Park employees gets more popular every year. The enrollment cutoff is at 35 students and there is a waiting list every session. The idea of hiking on trails, picking berries, making jam, visiting parks and learning about wildlife, are big reasons why kids want to attend this camp.
For the past three summers, BLM Park Ranger Tammy Jakl from the Fort Ord National Monument has partnered with The Point Lobos Summer Adventures camp and has presented educational programs about Leave No Trace, Central Coast habitats, pollution and fire ecology. Next year the adventure camp plans on travelling to the Fort Ord National Monument for a hiking adventure.
