Central California RAC tours Bodie, discusses land issuesMembers of the BLM’s Central California District Resource Advisory Council saw land management challenges in the Eastern Sierra during a meeting May 18 and 19 in Bridgeport. Council members voted to form a new subgroup to work with the BLM’s Bakersfield Field Office in planning an off-highway vehicle area on the east side of the Temblors range. In addition to business meetings, council members toured the Bodie Hills and discussed sage grouse issues with Steve Nelson, supervisory natural resources specialist in the BLM’s Bishop Field Office. Members of the public addressed vegetation management and other issues in the Bodie Hills during the public comment period. The next council meeting is planned for the Merced area in August, with details to be determined.
