BLM at the Sacramento Horse Expo 2011BLM staff and volunteers gave attendees at the Horse Expo in Sacramento June 10-12 an opportunity to learn about the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program. Due to the Equine Herpes Virus outbreak in California, BLM did not bring horses to the event, but instead staffed an information booth. (text continues below)
Numerous expo-goers received answers to questions such as how to obtain title to a mustang, adoption requirements and how gathers are conducted. Horse Expo is the largest and most comprehensive equestrian expo in North America and offers guests the ability to attend many horsemanship clinics each day. Annual attractions at the expo include the Horse Sale, the Magnificent 7 All Around Stock Horse Championship and the Equine Dream Art Show. For additional information on wild horse management, contact the BLM toll free at 1-866-4MUSTANGS (866-468-7826). Information is also available online at www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov. - David Christy, BLM Central California District, 6/13/11 BLM-California News.bytes, issue 485 |
