Earth Day Cleanup a Success in Coachella ValleyHard work by dedicated local residents contributed to a successful cleanup of scenic Berdoo Canyon in Coachella Valley. (test continues below)
Organized by Desert Adventures JeepTours of Palm Desert, nearly 50 people assembled on Earth Day morning, April 22nd, to cleanup tires, trash, refuse and graffiti that has accumulated in this fragile and scenic desert area. The Great Outdoors and Desert Trails Hiking Clubs provided volunteers and support. The Kaiser Restaurant Group of Palm Desert provided lunches. The County of Riverside provided staff and trucks for tire removal and waived landfill fees. Desert Adventures provided staff and excellent organizational skills and the BLM provided dumpsters, graffiti removal and staff. Other volunteers joined in resulting restoration of one of Coachella Valley's scenic gems. The BLM will continue law enforcement patrols of this area to deter future dumping and graffiti.
