A Saturday tour visited sites along the east side of the Carrizo Plain National Monument, from a mountaintop on the Temblor Range to the San Andreas Fault at Wallace Creek. (Text continues below)

The Bureau of Land Management and the managing partners of the Carrizo Plain National Monument - The Nature Conservancy and the California Department of Fish and Game - in conjunction with the Monument Advisory Committee, held the tour to see and discuss the varied resources as part of the planning process. A tour earlier this year covered sites on the west side of the monument.

The BLM is preparing a Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for the monument. A meeting of the advisory committee is planned for early next year to discuss preliminary alternatives, including a preliminary preferred alternative.
