The Granite Launch on the Lower Kern River in the Bakersfield Field Office has been selected by the States Organization for Boating Access to receive their 2007 award for Outstanding Project - Small Access Category (less than 25 cars capacity). (text continues below)
Granite Launch was selected, among other reasons, for the innovative design, the potential long use of the facility, the economy of design, new construction practices, and the use of SOBA design guidelines. The award will be presented at the SOBA Annual Conference in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Ocrtober 6-9, 2007. SOBA provides a forum for the exchange of views, ideas, concepts and experiences related to all aspects of recreational boating facilities. They are devoted to the acquisition, development and administration of public recreational boating facilities nationwide. This award marks the third time that BLM California has been honored by SOBA.
