Nancy Haug

Nancy began her career with the BLM in Boise in 1990 in a temporary position entering soil information into a database. In 1993 she accepted the Boise District's volunteer program coordinator position. During that time, she also earned a mass communications/ journalism degree from Bosie State University (the one with the blue football field). In 1997 she moved into a writer-editor position in the BLM's Office of Fire and Aviation at the National Interagency Fire Center.  At NIFC, she worked in public affairs as a writer-editor, and then a public affairs specialist.  After seven years at NIFC, she accepted the assistant field manager position for minerals and lands in Kemmerer, Wyoming. In 2006, she became the field manager at the Baker City Field Office in Baker City, Oregon.  All told, she has worked for the BLM for more than 20 years.

She has also completed several temporary details: a four-month detail in the Department of the Interior’s Office of Wildland Fire Coordination in Washington, D.C.; a two-month detail in the California Desert District as the associate district manager; a detail as deputy group manager for External Affairs at NIFC; and a one-month detail as the Deschutes Resource Area manager in the Prineville District.

Nancy was born on the Misawa Air Force Base in Japan.  As a child with a father in the military, she spent her youth in Germany, Texas, and Idaho. Her family moved to Boise, Idaho, the year she turned 16, and she has been there much of her adult life.

She has two grown children. Justin is 26 years old is in Spokane, Washington; Chelsea, 23, is in Nampa, Idaho. She has a dog and two cats so some of her hobbies include a never-ending cycle of feeding, hugging, petting and vacuuming! Her other passions include backpacking, hiking and camping, photography, reading and writing.
