Jenice Armstead

Human Resources Specialist
California State Office

Jenice Renee Armstead was born into a military family in Long Beach, California.  As with most military families, she moved frequently.  After graduating from high school in Killeen, TX, still with a desire to see more of the world, she joined the Navy.  During her 10 years in the Navy, she has been to Sidney, Australia; Mombassa, Kenya; Frankfurt, Germany; North Korea; Iraq; San Diego, California; and Key West, Florida.

While in the Navy, Jenice pursued her college degree, earning an associates degree from Vincennes University and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Saint Leo University in Key West, Florida.   After a brief foray into the work force, she would later return to Saint Leo to earn her master's degree in human resources management.

Between her undergraduate and graduate degrees she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked for the Department of Corrections as the human resources regional coordinator.  She accepted an internship opportunity with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where she learned the “ins and outs” of the banking industry.  After completing her internship, she was offered a position with a local marketing and advertising company as the human resources director, but before she had accepted the job, she received a call from a university counselor at her former school to offer her the opportunity to earn her master’s degree.

As a human resources specialist for BLM, she performs or participates in studies and advises management on issues relative to position structuring, job standardization, evaluation criteria and standards, and develops classification guidance.

Jenice lives in Antelope with her domestic partner of eight years, Davina McGinnis, and two pugs.   She loves creative writing. She has written a cook book and is working on her autobiography.  She also likes to exercise and take family trips.  Jenice takes great pride in her community and is involved in many volunteer projects. She is currently earning her California human resources certification.
