Human Resources Branch
Calaifornia State Office

Answer:  This Midwest city is known for the tree growing out of the top of the county courthouse.

Question:  What is Greenburg, Indiana, Alex?

Yes!  That was an actual question on television's Jeopardy game show.  That would be where Christine Zell was born and lived the early years of her life.

At age six, she moved with her family to San Diego, Calif., where she lived for the next 26 years. Another interesting trivia tidbit  from Christine -- the gymnasium of Kearny High School, where Christine attended high school, stood in as Clover High School gymnasium in the "Bring It On" movies.

Christine started her federal career at Camp Pendleton as an office automation clerk, GS-4 and worked on the groundbreaking Transition Assistance Program initiated to better prepare military members for their transition into civilian employment.  After marrying her husband, they were stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where she assisted military families with their arrival to and departure from Japan, in the Relocation Assistance Center.  After returning to the U.S., she returned to the Transition Assistance Program and found her niche in career counseling.   She began her HR career at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, as a labor and employee relations specialist, was recruited to work as an employee development specialist, then transferred to the Defense Commissary Agency West Region Office in Sacramento when her husband was hired by Transportation Safety Administration in Sacramento after he retirement from the Marine Corps. She went to the California National Guard as a supervisory human resources specialist and has now found a home with the BLM!

As the training officer, Christine develops, instructs, and coordinates training courses, manages the federal career intern and probationary supervisors’ programs, assists in resolving communication and workplace barriers, provides courses and guidance for enhancing job skills and work performance, and assists management and employees in developing individual development and career plans.
