More than 14,000 acres of high desert rangeland in the Nevada desert east of Cedarville, Calif. have been acquired by the Bureau of Land Management for public ownership.

The acquired lands in the Home Camp Ranch area are now open to the public for a variety of uses. (map of acquired lands)

The buildings and property at the Home Camp Cabin and surrounding forty acres at the mouth of Horse Canyon remain in private ownership. BLM officials are asking visitors to respect private landowners’ rights by staying out of the ranch headquarters.

For more information about visiting the area, contact the BLM Surprise Field Office in Cedarville, (530) 279-6101.
