Bitner Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) National Public Lands Day Event
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Surprise Field Office, hosted a successful National Public Lands Day at historic Bitner Ranch, August 29, 2009.

Volunteers, friends and family worked together to clean up a unique historial site in northeastern Nevada. BLM employee's along with their children and a northeast California Resource Advisory Committee member joined in the hard but rewarding work. Participants camped on site near beautiful Badger Meadows and enjoyed a delightful BBQ and sunset.

Bitner Ranch is located 58 miles east of Cedarville, California in Washoe County, Nevada and is situated on the boundary of the USFWS Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge and the Massacre Rim Wilderness Study Area. The ranch is now part of the Bitner Area of Critical Environmental Concern. The BLM is working towards stabilizing the historic structures and developing the site as an interpretive area.
