This map depicts the Hunter Mountain Allotment which is located on the east slope of the Inyo Mountains approximately 8-10 miles east of Owens Lake. The allotment is comprised of approximately 53,900 acres and is about 16 miles north to south and 8 miles east to west. The Inyo Mountains on the western side slope down to Santa Rosa Flat and the Santa Rosa Hills form the eastern boundary. About one half of the Malpais Mesa Wilderness is encompassed in the central and western portions of the allotment. Under the Rancher’s Alternative there are 4 water haul sites proposed. Two are in the southeast portion of the allotment and one is on the road going through Santa Rosa Flat. The fourth water haul site is at the north end of Santa Rosa Flat.
